Life in City and Countryside

    Which do you prefer living in cities or countryside?  Most people will choose the former because more and more people have a tendency to live in cities these days.  However, some people would rather live in the countryside because they like quiet places.  Then, why is the number of people who live in cities larger than that of countryside?  To begin with, what are the differences between cities and countryside?  If you answer this question, most of you will say the convenience, work, environment, and so on.  In this essay, it will be discussed the differences of the convenience, work, and environment between cities and countryside.

     Firstly, the convenience is quite different.  Most people living in cities can go anywhere on foot such as convenience stores.  People living in the countryside, on the other hand, most of them have to go there by bicycle.  In general, most people don’t use their bicycles to go to convenience stores, but if you live in the countryside, this usually can’t be done.  In addition, if you go to a station, people living in cities will take shorter time than those living in the countryside to arrive there.  Therefore, most people tend to live in cities to make their lives more convenient.

     Secondly, work is one of the differences between cities and countryside.  There are a lot of jobs and most companies and corporations are located in cities.  This could be one of the reasons why people live in cities.  However, there are jobs in the countryside as well.  For example, if you are interested in agriculture or fishery, most of you will most likely choose to live in the countryside.  Another example is that if you would like to be a mountain climber, most of you will definitely move to the countryside.  For these reasons, work is a very important factor to choose to live in cities or the countryside.

     Thirdly, environment between cities and countryside is very different.  For instance,  usually there are many people in cities.  In contrast, the countryside is not.  This means the countryside is much quieter place than cities.  Because of this, if you want to concentrate on something, you will probably choose to live in the countryside.  Generally, most people can’t focus on anything in cities because they are usually noisy.  Furthermore, because there are few people in the countryside, people living there don’t have enough opportunities to communicate with someone.  If they have neighbors, this is not a big problem, but if they don’t, most of them feel bored or lonely.  Unlike the countryside, cities are many people, so you have enough chances to talk to someone.  This is a big difference between cities and countryside.
